One cue card at a time

It’s not easy taking that first step onto the proverbial stage, whether it’s in business, relationships, health, etc. It’s scary because we don’t know what we’re going to do in act 4, 5, or 6. Like, really. Standing where we are now, peering out from behind the curtain at the crowd, the future seems uncertain at best and terrifying at a vomit-inducing scale at worst.

But here’s what’s amazing about the Universe. She’s an incredible cue-card-flipper…

I know. It seems like she’s let us down before. Most definitely. But with some careful introspection, I think you’ll see that the problem was you and me — not the Universe. It’s our fault for not liking/trusting/reading them.

Even though the cue cards are always there, we’re ‘allowed’ to go full-on improv whenever we want. That creative freedom is our birthright. It’s just that sometimes we get carried away in our own brilliance and forget the cue cards are even there.

The reason we’re freaking out before taking that first step is that those cue cards just haven’t been flipped yet. But why should they be? If the cue cards from act 4, 5, and/or 6 were showing here at the opening scene, that’d mean the Universe was shitty at her job. And we all know that isn’t true.

Just because you don’t see the future cue cards yet doesn’t mean the lines won’t come.

It’s just not their time yet. That’s for the future ‘you’ to worry about. Your only job right now is to step on stage and trust the process.

Go ahead. Break a leg. See ya backstage afterwards.
