I've been having this conversation with a dear friend of mine, Traci (her substack is Conversation with Presence). She's been writing about this very topic, and her perspective is super interesting.
Now, back to you. There were so many lines in this article that I was going to quote that deeply resonated with me. For example, " the end of certainty becomes the beginning of soul." 100% true. And that's paradoxical because Soul is the only certainty. And the entire section on what can't be automated. Full stop right there.
And the section on the church as the humanizing space was just brilliant writing. This is how I know you're not AI. AI could never come up with "the woman in the third pew, wearing the same perfume she's worn since 1963, singing the alto part by memory, handing you a peppermint that might be older than you are." Only a true humorist like Twain, Bombeck, Lamont, or Ellison could come up with that!
Look, I could go on and on, so I'll stop here. Keep writing, my friend. Your perspective is needed now more than ever!
