The form and the message

In my last post, I was a little bit snarky:) Every once in a while, it’s fun to be snarky. I mean no harm, though. Hey, if you want a praise band and fog machines in church, go for it.

That being said, I wanted to share a comment from a dear reader who brought it into focus…

Whether modern or traditional, there is danger of the form being more important than the message, which led to much divisiveness in that congregation and others.

I believe there is room and need for both forms. Different modes reach different people. But if the Gospel isn’t preached and practiced with love and grace, it doesn’t matter whether the church is in a cathedral with incense or a storefront with tambourines. It becomes just another club.

I just thought this was really wise.

Grace & Godspeed,
Jonas
