For almost four years now, I’ve kept a daily(ish) blog right here on Medium. What started as a personal creative outlet sharing my whimsical ramblings about life, spirituality, creativity, and faith has blossomed into one of the top single-author blogs on Medium as well as my life’s purpose (you can read more about my story here if you’re not familiar).
I’m at a precipice where I want to dedicate my working life to you, dear reader, in even bigger, better ways.
After 1400+ free blog posts that I’ve put out into the world over a span of four years, it’s time to start to turn this vocational ship towards this work that I love the most — sharing my personal confessions, testimonies, and revelations with others so as to help them save the baby from the discarded bathwaters of the Christian faith (or something like that).
Another big step for me is this… I’ve just enrolled in seminary here in Chicago to become a pastor (ELCA — Lutheran). Methinks the world needs more pastors who can dance with faith in today’s postmodern, secular, pluralistic world. And well, I’m up for that challenge (call me a glutton for punishment).
I know this ship may take a while to turn, but I have to start now. And so, to cut to the quick of it, here’s the big news for today…
I’ve started a Patreon page!!
If you’re not familiar, Patreon gives you a way to support my work at whatever level you can to keep my butt in the chair doing what I do best (and to keep it free for those who can’t be Patrons). It also gets you some pretty spiffy perks (if I do say so myself).
This is a big day for me. It marks my commitment to making awesome things that you’ll love (AND will pay to have me keep it up). Instead of money going to ad tech companies who want to monetize your attention spans, you’ll now have a direct connection to me, my livelihood, and my life.
Whatever your reasons, I’m eternally grateful…
I’ll keep up this publication (for free, of course) for as long as I can. But I know that seminary will take a ton of my time. I’d rather devote the time I have outside of it to the blog as well as the community here on Patreon if it makes financial sense.
My goal is to fill that space with seminars, podcasts, book studies, discussion forums, reflections, hangouts, workshops, and more. Okay, I’m rambling now. At this point, I just want you to see it…
Through your patronage, you’ll get various perks according to your level of support. You’ll also be part of my ‘inner circle’ (not to get too cultish on ya) and my future work will revolve around you and your deepest and darkest existential needs.
I hope to be able to dedicate myself to this work full-time sooner than later. It’s only through your patronage that I can make this a reality.
Okay, that’s enough for now. Whether or not you end up becoming a Patron, again, thanks so much for being on the other end of this email.
Until next time…
P.S. If you have any questions about anything here, please don’t hesitate to write me back and ask away. I’d be happy to clarify anything that needs clarifying.
And if you missed that link above, here’s a big-ole’ button so you check out my NEW Patreon page…
