I know, I’m crazy. I just changed the name of this publication from Higher Thoughts to Cricket Hill back in the spring. A brief backstory might be in order here…
This publication was born as a daily blog in the spring of 2015 as Higher Thoughts. It carried that name for almost three years until the spring of 2018 when I hit a point where I needed to take the pressure off of myself to grind out a ‘higher thought’ every day.
So I changed the name to Cricket Hill (you can read about the intention behind that name here). I went from posting daily to posting weekly. I tried to distance myself from the spiritual conversation, entirely, as I was going through some stuff with some more-spiritual-than-thou people at the time (read more about that here, if you’d like).
The name was nice for a few months. But in all honesty, I just couldn’t fall in love with it. I eventually got my spiritual footing back in my faith and I realized that posting daily was my thing. However, I didn’t want to go back to Higher Thoughts. I don’t consider any of my thoughts to be ‘higher’ and I hate pedaling them off as such. But I wanted something similar. Something more descriptive than Cricket Hill. Finally, it hit me…
This name resembles what ALL of my posts here (all 1300+ of them) have been about — my daily-ish remarks, opinions, and wonderings… on living. I’m so glad I was able to grab the name and slap it on the label of this publication.
If you’d like to read more about this publication, you can do that here on the revised Welcome Page (if you’re a long-time reader, not much will change going forward besides the name).
Anyhow, I hope this letter finds you well and warm this fine autumn evening (in the US anyway). Writing for you here is a privilege I never take for granted. Thanks so much for your love and support.
P.S. If you’d like to get my daily posts (or a weekly summary of them) in your inbox, you can subscribe for free via email here.
