Confidence is a result of action, not a prerequisite

So often we wait until the confidence comes to step into action.

And we wait... And wait some more... And finally, we change our mind.

Doesn’t work this way.

We must do the thing first. THEN the confidence comes. Not the other way around.

Here’s the 3-step process:

  1. Do the damn thing. As scary as it seems.
  2. Bask in your new found confidence.
  3. The next time you do the damn thing, it’ll be less terrifying.

Action results in confidence. Not the other way around.

If you’re waiting for confidence before you make your move, I hate to say it, but you’ll probably be waiting for a long time.

(Here’s one of my favorite movie scenes of all time that totally pertains to this concept.)
