I have an announcement (because who doesn’t love announcements, right??)…
I have a new website. Well, it’s the same URL as my old one (jonasellison.com), but it’s fully updated and hosted on Squarespace (I had my site on Strikingly before, which is great for more of a static site, but not so great for blogs). I’ve moved over all of my old Medium posts (over 1400 of ‘em) to the new site. You can find the ’old archive’ here.
You’ll have to excuse me, it’s a bit of a bachelor pad right now. Just give me some time to hang things up on the digital walls and make it look more… Welcoming:)
I made the move because I needed some distance from Medium. As much as I love Medium, after posting so much over there (1400+ posts), I’ve grown nervous. Like, what if Medium goes… Away? What happens to all of my work? And they’re doing some profit-driven things (can’t blame them, I guess) that don’t sit well with me. I’m at a point where I need to be able to have more control over my content rather than leaving it in the hands of a venture-backed social media tech company (though I will continue to cross-post over there.)
What’s also nice is, this gives me an excuse for a bit of a creative refresh. I don’t know what that’ll look like right now. As usual, I think I’ll have to write through it to tell. We’ll see where the muse takes me. But somehow, this feels like a new chapter of sorts.
To read more about the site, head over to the new about page and give it a quick read.
Until next time, Godspeed.
P.S. If you’re an email subscriber, this post is going out through a new RSS feed that I set up. If you have no idea what that means and/or if you don’t care, just know that if anything is wonky or weird, let me know and I’ll try to fix it.
